TACKING TRAINING at the Bavarian Yacht Club (BYC)EAGLES: sailing for all

With “WENDESTART – EAGLES Inclusive Sailing”, the Bavarian Yacht Club enjoyed a very special weekend on 14 and 15 August 2026. In collaboration with the EAGLES Charity Club e.V. and the TURNING POINT Foundation, the two days were entirely dedicated to inclusion, sailing, social interaction and community engagement.

The focus was on children and young people with physical or intellectual disabilities, who took to the water alongside other participants and experienced sailors. The aim: to sail together, take on responsibility, learn from one another and demonstrate how inclusion can be practised as a matter of course in sailing. The event was supported by celebrities from the worlds of culture and sport. These included Michael Roll, actor and member of the EAGLES board; Simon Licht, actor and an active sailor himself for many years; Claudia Jung, singer and member of the EAGLES board; Anna-Maria Kaufmann, internationally renowned soprano; and Lars Riedel, Olympic champion and multiple world champion in the discus throw.

The charity raffle was a key part of the programme, aimed at continuing to promote inclusive sailing events. In total, the EAGLES Charity Night raised €19,115 in donations for a good cause.

WENDEKURS with the Nuremberg Yacht Club15–17 May 2026 at Großer Brombachsee

A little shy and unsure in the morning, but after just their first sail, our participants came ashore with beaming faces. Together, they explored the boat, handled the ropes and steered. And they quickly bonded as a crew. When the wind was blowing, everyone on board had something to do; when it was calm, they sang, played games or rested. Back on land, the young guests tucked into the healthy and hearty lunch during the break – thanks to the kitchen crew at the YCN!
