A native of Hamburg, he has served as the managing director of the TURNING POINT Foundation gGmbH since its founding. He has been sailing for more than 40 years and, with three Paralympic medals to his name, is one of the world’s most successful Paralympic sailors. His disability: He was born without a left hand and faced many challenges as a child. Sailing has helped him successfully overcome these challenges, given him self-confidence, and enabled him to successfully integrate into society. As a business executive, he previously spent more than two decades in leadership roles and, together with his wife, gained valuable experience running a medical device startup.
